Bad Day in Black Rock

Yesterday was a Bad Day in Black Rock.  Precious Molly sick.  Call Vet.  Closed on Friday. Ok. Animal Hospital.  Into the car. Flat tire. #%$@*  Back inside.  Molly perky.  Ok, but what about flat tire?  Check budget.  Bad idea.  Into bathroom, grab scissors, cut hair.  Another bad idea.  (Whenever I get depressed, I cut my hair.  Ok, I butcher my hair.  It’s a family joke.)

Rinky dink spare tire.  No other option. Go to high end tire chain.  Refuse to replace one tire only on AWD car.  “We’ll sell you one tire (very expensive) but we won’t install it.”  Now what?

Drive across the street to grocery store parking lot because I’m afraid I might cry. Refuse to call my son.  Always racing to my rescue and never a single complaint. Besides his hands are full and my daughter can’t drive.

I should be able to figure this out.  Check glove box for tire receipts.  Old Subie had Walmart tires.  Still discouraged, limp over to Walmart.

Never underestimate the kindness of strangers.

Angel disguised as “auto technician”.  Best tire (Goodyear) 2/3 cost of high end chain.  Left with a new tire (installed) wheels balanced and the assurance I could replace the other three in a couple months with no problem.

Went to my hairdresser.  She grinned when I pulled off my knit cap and pointed to her chair.  I left sporting one of the best haircuts ever.

At home Molly back to her old self.  Check up next week.  Loving daughter called to say she had $$ for me.  (Just enough to pay for new tire).

My Bad Day in Black Rock turned into a Good Day in Sweet Valley
